The Georgian authorities have cancelled the tenders held for the construction of roads to the borders of Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The country's road department cited low competition as the reason for the cancellation of the competition announced in the summer of 2024.

According to government plans, the winning bidder was to build the Rustavi-Tsiteli (Red Bridge) and Algeti-Sadakhlo roads. The total length of the transport routes was to exceed 60 km. The tender also included the construction of 26 bridges and 11 road junctions.

The works were planned to start last year and take 2.5 years.

The road construction was financed by the state budget and the European Investment Bank, which provided a 250 million euro loan.
