Israel continues its air strike operations against “Hezbollah” in Lebanese territory. Operations are currently also being carried out by ground forces. The main area where attacks are being carried out is the city of Dahiya in Lebanon. According to Iranian state media, four Iranian diplomats were killed yesterday in an attack carried out by Israel in Lebanon.
It is interesting to know what the situation of Azerbaijani citizens in Lebanon is. Are their lives at risk?
We addressed these questions to Khaled Ismayil, head of the Azerbaijan House in Lebanon.
He stated in his declaration to Modern.az that the number of Azerbaijani citizens in Lebanon is not high and their lives are not in danger:
“Azerbaijani citizens live far from the areas where the war is taking place. All of them are settled in the center of the capital, Beirut. Three people work at the Azerbaijani embassy, and their families also live here. Additionally, there are 4-5 Azerbaijani women who previously married in Lebanon. In total, the number of Azerbaijani citizens does not exceed 15 people.”
Khaled Ismayil also noted that Consul General Farhad Guluzade said yesterday that he would send his family to Azerbaijan:
“Yesterday I contacted the embassy. They will send their families to Azerbaijan, while they themselves will remain here. That is, they will send their wives and children. The Ambassador, the Consul General, and the embassy's financial officer will remain.”
The head of the Azerbaijan House also spoke about the situation of Turkmens living in Lebanon:
“Turkmen villages are mainly located in Akkar. This means that Turkmens also live far from the war. I should also mention that Israel is striking the city of Dahiya in Lebanon. Dahiya is far from Beirut. They are striking areas where “Hezbollah” weapons are located. Thank God, there have been no casualties among the Turkmens.”
Khaled Ismayil also spoke about the situation regarding schools in Lebanon: “All schools are closed.”
