“NGO case” üzrə ittiham olunanlardan biri, social worker, human rights defender Zamin Zaki's criminal case's final court process has been held.
Modern.az reports that today, the verdict was read out in a process held at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes under the chairmanship of Judge Elmin Rustamov.
According to the verdict, Zamin Zaki was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
It should be recalled that the state prosecutor had proposed Z. Zaki's imprisonment for a period of 8 years.
It should be noted that Zamin Zaki is accused under Articles 313 (Official forgery), 193-1.3.2 (Legalization of criminally obtained money or other property, committed in large amounts), and 308.1 (Abuse of official powers) of the Criminal Code.
A pre-trial detention measure was chosen against him by the decision of the Binagadi District Court.
Z. Zaki is accused of legalizing illegal funds exceeding 50,000 manats.
It should be recalled that a criminal case has been initiated by the Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor's Office regarding a number of non-governmental organizations operating in Azerbaijan, under Articles 192.2.2, 213.1, 308.2, and other articles of the Criminal Code, and a preliminary investigation is underway.
Within the criminal case, violations of law in the activities of a number of non-governmental organizations, their leaders, as well as branches and representative offices of foreign non-governmental organizations are being investigated.
Mammad Alpay (Məmmədzadə), founder and director of "İştirak Evi" LLC, Bashir Suleymanli, head of "Beneficiary: Legal Aid Center and Institute of Civil Rights", and Subhan Hasanli, head of the Social Rights Center, have been brought in as accused persons under Articles 193-1.3.2 (legalization of property obtained through crime in large amounts), 308.2 (abuse of official powers leading to grave consequences), and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code.
A pre-trial detention measure was chosen against Mammad Alpay (Məmmədzadə) and Bashir Suleymanli by the decision of the Binagadi District Court. Subhan Hasanli has been declared wanted because he evaded the investigation.
Hafiz Hasanov, head of the "Law and Development" Public Union, has been recognized as an accused person in the criminal case concerning local and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) at the Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor's Office, and a house arrest pre-trial detention measure was chosen against him by court decision.
Subsequently, Asaf Ahmadov, head of the Ganja Regional Community Center, social worker - human rights defender Zamin Zaki, and Ahmad Abbas oglu Məmmədzadə were arrested in connection with the criminal case.
