Information technology specialist Vahid Gasimov stated that the reduction of many jobs in Azerbaijan as a result of the application of artificial intelligence is a realistic forecast. He spoke about this in a statement to Modern.az.
The expert noted that since the main goal of the state is to provide employment for citizens, this process is slower in Azerbaijan compared to other countries. According to him, the application of artificial intelligence can lead to significant changes in some areas.
"From this perspective, Azerbaijan University of Languages should cease its activities. Because artificial intelligence can already perform perfectly as a translator."
The expert believes that artificial intelligence can largely replace the work of translators:
"There will be a decrease in the need for low-level programmers. Because artificial intelligence can write the same codes more professionally. This technology can also affect state structures. For example, as services are optimized with mobile applications, the reduction of state employees is possible: If the documentation process is carried out online from A to Z through applications such as "Mobile Notary” and citizens no longer need to go to a notary office, the number of people working in this field may also decrease. In addition, it is expected that hot-line operators, some positions in the tourism sector, SMM employees, and those performing editing work will also be replaced by artificial intelligence."
According to the expert, changes are also possible in the banking sector, and if loans are issued remotely, online, similar to mobile notaries, the need for credit specialists will decrease:
"Although Artificial Intelligence eliminates some professions, it also leads to the creation of new specializations. 10–15 years ago, a profession like Artificial Intelligence engineer did not exist. Currently, fields such as Data Science are emerging, and those specializing in these areas can gain new job opportunities.
