By March 1 of this year, 90.7 million manats of value-added tax (VAT) has been refunded to those who purchased real estate in a non-cash manner in Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports this, citing the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy.
According to the information, as of the reporting date, a total of 28,237 applications have been received from citizens via the relevant portal. For 17,072 of these applications, the payment of VAT to citizens has been ensured. At the same time, 9,234 applications were rejected in accordance with the requirements of the relevant rules, or payment operations were unsuccessful.
In January-February of this year, a total of 1,265 applications were received through the portal. For 964 of these applications, the payment of more than 6 million manats has been ensured. For 206 applications, a rejection decision was made, or operations were unsuccessful.
The main reasons for the rejection of citizens' applications are as follows:
1. Failure to submit the application within 90 days from the last payment date;
2. Absence of e-invoice information in the payment purpose;
3. Failure to pay VAT and the principal amount separately during payment;
4. Payments being made by other persons.
If the full or part of the payment is made by another person, not the buyer, applications are considered if there is a notarized power of attorney confirming the representative's authority as of the payment date. Furthermore, if the value of the residential and non-residential area (excluding VAT) is paid to the seller's bank account in a non-cash manner, and the VAT amount is paid to the seller's deposit account, the amount is refunded.
The State Tax Service recommends that persons engaged in housing construction submit information forms related to building construction in accordance with the legislation.
Since the portal was put into operation, 3,914 relevant information forms have been submitted by persons engaged in building construction activities. In this regard, tax authorities are conducting relevant monitoring and analysis work.
