Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO), Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade will attend the funeral ceremony of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia.
Modern.az reports that Allahshukur Pashazade stated this in his remarks to journalists after the Eid prayer performed at Teze Pir Mosque in connection with the end of Ramadan.
According to him, he visited the Georgian Embassy in Azerbaijan yesterday to offer condolences.
"Ilia II was my friend. He stood by me on the Armenia issue. May Allah have mercy on him."
The funeral ceremony of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia will be held on March 22.
It should be recalled that Ilia II passed away on the evening of March 17 at a Tbilisi clinic due to stomach bleeding.
He had been the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia since 1977.
