President Ilham Aliyev's visit to the People's Republic of China to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, as well as in the solemn events and military parade held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of China's victory over foreign military intervention and fascism, the head of our state being received at the highest level in the friendly country, PRC Chairman Xi Jinping warmly greeting Mr. Ilham Aliyev by calling him "my dear friend," and the content of the negotiations conducted, all indicate that the relations between our countries are at the highest, most sincere level and signal that our ties are entering a new stage with an upward trend.
It is worth noting that the foundation of sincere and businesslike relations between our countries was laid approximately 30 years ago by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and these relations have been elevated to the level of strategic partnership as a result of the efforts of President Ilham Aliyev. Our countries have consistently supported each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty on all platforms and have strongly protested against separatist tendencies.
Relations between the Parliaments of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the PRC are also developing in an environment of high cooperation.
In addition to state, government, and inter-parliamentary relations, relations between the ruling parties of both countries are also developing on a plane of mutual respect and beneficial cooperation. In this regard, the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the New Azerbaijan Party and the Communist Party of China holds special importance as a significant event.
Economic, trade, and logistics relations, as well as humanitarian and cultural ties, are increasingly expanding and strengthening between our countries. The recent bilateral abolition of the visa regime has given impetus to the further deepening of these relations.
Azerbaijan's joining the "One Belt, One Road" project, a global initiative of Mr. Xi Jinping, the passage of a branch of the Middle Corridor of the Ancient Silk Road through our country, China's interest in the opening of the Zangazur corridor and its support for the process, and other conditions further bring our countries closer to each other and create additional guarantees for the sustainability of our relations.
The issues discussed during the meeting between President Ilham Aliyev and PRC Chairman Mr. Xi Jinping, particularly the increase in trade turnover between our countries, and the further expansion of cooperation in the fields of energy, including renewable energy, and digitalization, will serve to deepen these ties.
I believe that the participation of the President of Azerbaijan in the SCO+ Summit and the meetings held within this framework will make new contributions to both Azerbaijan-China relations and Azerbaijan's more active participation in the Global South platform.
