On November 8, a parade dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the victory in the Patriotic War will be held in Azadlig Square in Baku. Preparations for the parade have already begun.
The last parade in Azadlig Square was held on December 10, 2020, in honor of the victory in the Patriotic War.
However, on November 8, 2023, the Victory Parade was organized in Khankendi city. So, what might this parade be remembered for?
In a statement to **Modern.az**, **Arzu Naghiyev**, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Defense, Security, and Anti-Corruption, stated that this year's Victory Parade is a very important event:
"This will be the third Victory Parade. This fact is a very important issue in strengthening the sense of national pride for statehood and army building. The military parade is a fact demonstrating the continuity of our victory, the Azerbaijani reality, and the power factor ensuring peace. The equipment and types of troops that can be displayed there once again show what powerful military potential Azerbaijan possesses."
The committee chairman noted that the parade is a message to both enemies and friends:
"In the parade, Azerbaijani citizens will see our army and military units, which are the guarantors of peace. In other words, this is not just a military display, but a demonstration of the results of the funds allocated for the army by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. President Ilham Aliyev, for the development of new technology and a new defense industry. It is possible that Turkey, Pakistan, Hungary, as well as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and other Turkic states may participate in this parade. The participation of their military representatives can be expected. Naturally, the participation of military attachés from accredited embassies and, in general, individuals suitable for their profession is possible here. I would like to emphasize once again the member states of the Organization of Turkic States. The passage of their flags in front of the tribune could be a symbol of unity. There is currently no war between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Leaders of several countries may also participate in this parade. It is possible that the leaders of our friendly states may also join the parade. Today, the Azerbaijani Army is among the top "50" armies in the world. We have balanced relations with power centers. The magnificent conduct of the parade will demonstrate the high spirits and determination of the Azerbaijani people."
