Before the 44-day Patriotic War, illegal "Nagorno-Karabakh representations" existed in some Armenian embassies in foreign countries. Claims are now being made that such representations still remain.
Speaking to Modern.az regarding this statement made against the backdrop of the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, Milli Majlis member Azər Badamov stated that the Armenian government currently opposes the establishment of any illegal entity related to Karabakh.
He noted that the Karabakh issue has already been resolved. The Armenian government has also accepted that Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan:
"The peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia continues, and mutual meetings of non-governmental organizations are being held. A meeting of officials from the two countries on border delimitation also took place in Gabala.”
The Milli Majlis member said that those who attempt to create a Karabakh representation and those who bring up the former Karabakh conflict are forces that do not desire the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia:
"They even claim that the Karabakh issue has not been resolved, and this is, of course, unacceptable. The main thing is that there is no disagreement in the peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
I do not believe that the Pashinyan government has any connection with the Armenian lobby abroad that would contradict Azerbaijan's interests.
However, Armenian forces opposing the Armenian government use the former Karabakh conflict to reduce confidence in Pashinyan.
Naturally, if the Armenian government takes steps supporting separatism, the Azerbaijani side will take legal action against it.
In the Armenian parliamentary elections to be held next year, the Armenian opposition will also attempt to reduce the public's confidence in Pashinyan.
Certain circles in Armenia are attempting to exploit the sensitive nature of the Karabakh issue. These attempts are observed among separatist forces both within Armenia and abroad. However, peace in Azerbaijan-Armenia relations continues as an uninterrupted process.
The full establishment of peace will be possible after amendments to the Armenian constitution, for which the Pashinyan government is creating a prospect."
