The text of the secret letter written by former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to Russian leader Vladimir Putin has been disclosed. Many political experts evaluate the letter as Sargsyan's exposure and confession.
The most striking point in the letter is Armenia's open call for Russia to exert pressure on Azerbaijan, and even its proposal to start the process of recognizing the independence of “Nagorno-Karabakh" if Baku does not accept the demands.
In a statement to Modern.az, Milli Majlis deputy Hikmət Babaoğlu stated that the documents released by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan regarding the negotiations held around the former "Nagorno-Karabakh" problem clearly show once again that Azerbaijan never discussed the territorial issue, was resolute in its position, and did not succumb to the pressures of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs:
“The documents also show that despite lengthy negotiations, the Sargsyan-Kocharyan tandem failed to extract anything from Azerbaijan. Their territorial claims against Azerbaijan were consistently rejected. On the other hand, after 2016, it became clear in Armenia that it would not be possible to resolve the Karabakh issue in the way they desired. At this point, attempts were made to pit Russian diplomacy and the Russian President against Azerbaijan. And the imposition of sanctions and embargoes against Azerbaijan was brought onto the agenda. But this, of course, also yielded no results. Thus, two issues become clear in this process: our lands were occupied not only by Armenians but also with the direct participation of their patrons, and the prolonged duration of the conflict is not the result of their diplomatic foresight, as Kocharyan and Sargsyan boast today, but was made possible with the participation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, and indirectly, the power centers of Europe and Russia.”

The deputy emphasized that these documents once again make it clear that Kocharyan and Sargsyan did not win the war; this "victory" was gifted to them:
“Similarly, they did not achieve success in 30 years of diplomatic negotiations; this was also gifted to the occupiers. The truth revealed by the released documents is that these individuals constantly lived in fear that Azerbaijan would reclaim its lands. This fear was not unfounded. Azerbaijan has not only liberated its lands from occupation but has also restored its sovereign rights. This should be a lesson for Armenians and their patrons. Azerbaijan has defeated each of them, both collectively and individually. Armenians should never forget this and should not covet another's territory by relying on someone else again. Because it is impossible to pursue a policy of pressure against Azerbaijan, and the victory achieved by our victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, based on the policy determined by the Great Leader, proves this once again.”
