It is reported that Turkey is negotiating to join the Saudi Arabia-Pakistan Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement (signed in September 2025).

Modern.az reports that this agreement includes a collective defense clause similar to NATO's Article 5: "an attack on one member is considered an attack on all members".

Western media emphasizes that the probability of an agreement with Ankara being realized is high.

If Turkey joins this military alliance, the bloc will gain significant influence: Saudi Arabia's finances and diplomacy, Pakistan's nuclear potential and army, plus Turkey's armed forces and defense industry will transform this military bloc into the "NATO of Islam".

According to Turkish experts, at a time when the US is increasingly focusing on its own and Israeli interests, this is a way for Turkey to strengthen its independence.

Although the agreement has not yet been officially confirmed, the process is reported to be progressing rapidly.

It should be recalled that on January 15, Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan answered this question at a press conference in Istanbul. He stated, "meetings and discussions are currently underway, but we have not signed any agreement yet".

Fidan emphasized that President Erdoğan's vision is broader: "to create an inclusive regional platform where all countries can cooperate on security issues, trust each other, and resolve problems without external interference".
