The US administration will demand Israel's direct military involvement in potential attacks on Iran.
Modern.az reports that Israel is no longer preparing only for limited escalation; it is preparing for a regional war. Within the country, 100-150 active missile launchers have been prepared for various air defenses, and 7 air defense battalions will service them. Israel is preparing a five-layer barrier for missile defense to withstand continuous missile fire. The Israeli Air Force is strengthening its operational infrastructure to ensure sustained combat capability even during long and intense Iranian attacks.
Prime Minister Netanyahu had previously reportedly asked President Trump to postpone an attack on Iran due to a shortage of air defense systems. Since then, significant US forces have been deployed to the region, despite considerable expenditure of ammunition defending Israel last summer and difficulties in replenishing supplies.
In recent weeks, military coordination between Israel and the US has intensified. The Israeli Chief of Staff visited Washington and met with the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. Israeli military intelligence and Mossad chiefs had also visited the US frequently.
The US has deployed a large naval force to the region: the aircraft carriers USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Gerald R. Ford, as well as several guided-missile destroyers, have been positioned in areas where they can intercept Iranian missiles and drones.
THAAD and Patriot missile defense systems are also being deployed at bases in Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, including Al Udeid Air Base. The deployment of F-15E and F-35 fighter jets and EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft to the region is also known.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi told the BBC that Tehran does not consider it possible to reduce uranium enrichment on its territory to zero and considers this its right under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated: "Iran's missile program is not subject to negotiations".
Donald Trump is reportedly seeking a military operation that would lead to the swift collapse of the Iranian regime to prevent a long-term war.
Meanwhile, Israel believes that the swift collapse of the Iranian regime is unlikely. Israeli security services are preparing for a period that could escalate into a broader regional war.
The increase in military presence and the preparation of defense systems indicate that a military scenario is considered realistic and has already been decided upon. The talks held in Oman, however, create the impression that they could be used for preparation and strategic maneuvers, and to gain time.
