The separation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his wife Anna Hakobyan has attracted serious attention. Anna Hakobyan has announced that she has already moved out of the government residence. According to her, she will live in a rented apartment because the property she acquired is still under construction.
Prime Minister Pashinyan, for his part, stated that he respects his former wife's decision and that she has been by his side through all difficult days over the past 30 years.
"Perhaps I have caused more bitterness, and for that, I apologize,” Pashinyan stated.
Armenian society has not unequivocally welcomed this pre-election decision. It is claimed that political interests lie behind this, that Anna Hakobyan will unite with the opposition, and that she is being directed by Russia.

“Undoubtedly, there is a Russian trace in Anna Hakobyan's separation from Pashinyan. Political motives lie behind the sudden decision to separate on the eve of the election. They have grown sons; they have four children. I am simply surprised by the lady's decision. I assume that Russia is primarily influencing her. I believe that certain forces within the opposition have also played a role. In any case, this is a situation that does not quite align with political ethics and the moral norms of Armenian society.”
The political scientist emphasized that Anna Hakobyan will not be able to detach anything from Nikol Pashinyan's electoral base:
“Anna Hakobyan may support businessman Samvel Karapetyan in the elections. But I do not believe that if Anna Hakobyan supports someone, it will bring him points. Pashinyan's reputation is high. The USA will also defend and support him. There are enough sensible people in Armenia. They will understand that enemies and foreign agencies are involved here. Thus, they will not show special favor to the lady. Only the opposition can show her goodwill. Anna Hakobyan will not be able to detach anything from Pashinyan's electoral base.”
It should be recalled that parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on June 7.
