Today, around noon, Iran launched a drone attack in the direction of Nakhchivan. As a result of the incident, 4 civilians were injured. Azerbaijan's Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense officially reacted to the drone attack.
It is noteworthy that the attack was first directed at Turkey, and then at Azerbaijan. And this raises the question of whether the Shusha Declaration will come into effect.
In a statement to Modern.az, Turkish General Yücel Karauz stated that Iran's strike on Nakhchivan is a crime against humanity:
“A ballistic missile launch against Turkish airspace a day earlier, followed by today's attack targeting civilian areas in Nakhchivan, is unacceptable. In particular, the targeting of the airport in Nakhchivan and one of the drones falling near a school constitute a crime against humanity directed at civilian infrastructure. Iran itself assessed an attack on a school in its own territory, resulting in the death of schoolgirls, as a crime against humanity. In such a situation, its current action is a very wrong and hostile approach”.
Iran should not test the patience of Turkey and Azerbaijan:
“In Azerbaijan and Turkey, all state institutions, led by the esteemed presidents, are vigilant, and crisis centers are operational. They are also prepared for all kinds of threats that may come from air and land. Based on the rules of engagement, they will provide the necessary military and diplomatic responses. Certain decentralized groups in Iran are attempting to test the patience, unity, and equality of Turkey and Azerbaijan, and whether the Shusha Declaration will be implemented. They should not test the spirit of unity and equality that arose in Shusha. If they expect a response similar to that in the Gulf countries, they are mistaken. The biggest strategic mistake for Iran is to confront Turkey and Azerbaijan”.
