Although Iran holds strategic importance in the Middle East, the war it wages with the US and Israel significantly impacts its military and economic standing. Previous international sanctions, economic restrictions, and differences in technological capabilities complicate the country's strategic plans. Analysts state that Iran's military power remains weak compared to the superiority of other states in confrontations with the US and NATO or in regional conflicts.
Military expert Shair Ramaldanov stated in his comments to Modern.az that Iran is doomed to defeat.
"The fact that the US military potential is greater than Iran's is an undeniable factor. By launching chaotic missile attacks, Iran has damaged relations with almost all neighboring states. At the same time, Iran's seizure of the Strait of Hormuz and the striking of tankers negatively impacted the global economy. As a result, it created a potential enemy against Iran".
The expert said that infrastructure in Iran is currently being destroyed on a large scale.
"If the confrontation continues indefinitely, nothing will be achieved under conditions of unequal power. The optimal step is to sit at the negotiating table. The natural sequence also dictates that after negotiations, an era of US hegemony in the Middle East will begin. Trump will also have gained performance for the next elections. Iran's Air Defense systems are very weak and do not meet modern standards. In such a situation, the US-Israel alliance, possessing modern aircraft and missiles, can easily conduct operations in Iranian airspace".
Shair Ramaldanov noted that the Kurdish factor should also not be overlooked:
"10% of Iran's population, 8-12 million people, are Kurds. Their mobilization poses a real threat to the Iranian government. The landing dynamics of missiles launched by Iran are real and not a strategy. This is not an infinite resource; it can be depleted. Let's consider that the defense industry structure has also been damaged. Regarding Iran's strategy, Iran might think that by prolonging the war, it can weaken the US. This is a wrong approach. Iran hopes that US military equipment will need to be replaced with new ones after a month. The US will have to bring equipment from a distance of 13,000 km. An operation costing millions of dollars will need to be repeated. However, it does not consider that by that time, Iran's infrastructure will be completely destroyed".
