Tension has reached its peak around the "Yardi Superbar" restaurant complex, owned by Azerbaijani businessman Yusif Khalilov, in Voronezh, Russia.
Modern.az reports that local authorities are preparing for the demolition of the facility, having suddenly deemed the restaurant, which has been operating for years, an illegal construction.
The city mayor's office demands the demolition of the "Yardi Superbar" restaurant complex, owned by Azerbaijani businessman Yusif Khalilov, who is also the owner of Alekseevsky market.
According to information, although the initial project planned for the construction of a 400-square-meter residential building on the disputed site, a massive restaurant complex with an area of 1700 square meters was actually erected there. The Arbitration Court has already declared the construction illegal and issued a decision for the demolition of the facility.
The main point complicating the situation is that possibilities for legalizing the facility are rejected, and a persistent stance is demonstrated in the demolition process. The targeting of property with such harsh methods and the emphasis on the Azerbaijani factor indicate an increase in the repressive environment against Azerbaijani businessmen in the region.
It should be recalled that Azerbaijani businessman Yusif Khalilov, whose name is mentioned among the restaurant's owners, was arrested last August on bribery charges. He was released in October of the same year. The entrepreneur is currently reported to be in Azerbaijan.
