The broad ethnoregional composition of the world's population has been announced.
Modern.az reports that, according to the 2025 projections, the distribution of the global population (over 8 billion) by main ethnoregional groups is as follows:
1) East Asians (~25%, 2 billion)
- Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans
2) South Asians (~23%, 2 billion)
- Indians, Pakistanis, and Bangladeshis
3) Sub-Saharan Africans (~14%, over 1 billion)
- Mainly Bantu peoples;
4) Europeans (~10%, approximately 800 million)
- Northern, Southern, and Eastern Europeans
5) Southeast Asians (~9%, approximately 700 million)
- Vietnamese, Thais, Indonesians, and others
6) Latin Americans/Hispanics (~8%, over 600 million)
- A mix of Indigenous American, European, and African peoples
7) Middle Eastern and North African population (~6%, 500 million)
- Arabs, Persians, and Berbers
8) Central Asians/Turkic peoples (~2%, over 170 million)
9) Indigenous peoples (~2%, over 150 million)
- Indigenous Americans and Australian Aborigines
10) Other/mixed ancestries (~1%)
By the end of the 21st century, over 45% of the world's population will be Black. The share of East Asians in the global population will decrease from 25% to 5%. Europeans and their descendants will also see their representation in the world's population decline to 5%. South Asians, however, will maintain their share above 20%.
