Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has agreed to pardon or commute the sentences of a number of prisoners on the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad and Imam Ja'far bin Muhammad al-Sadiq.

Thus, Khamenei has agreed to pardon or commute the sentences of 3458 prisoners.
The list of prisoners, in accordance with Article 110 of the Iranian Constitution, after their cases were reviewed by a special judicial committee, was submitted to the Supreme Leader for approval by the Head of the Judiciary, Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei.
