Modern.az reports, citing local media, that a mass brawl broke out between supporters of the ruling “Georgian Dream” party and pro-Western protesters.
A large number of police forces were deployed to the scene.
During the clash, a journalist from Hungary sustained serious injuries. He is a media representative who regularly covers protest actions in Tbilisi. The journalist was beaten on Meliklishvili Avenue and then taken by ambulance from Rustaveli Avenue to the hospital.
According to information, members of the youth wing of the “Georgian Dream” attacked protesters and journalists. Among the injured is an employee of the Publika publication. He was attacked during a live broadcast, and his mobile phone was taken from him.
Georgian law enforcement agencies are expected to launch an investigation into the incident.
