The French National Assembly has expressed no confidence in Prime Minister François Bayrou.

Modern.az reports that BFM TV has disseminated information about this.

According to the results of the vote, 364 deputies voted in favor of the no-confidence motion, while 194 people voted for Bayrou to remain in office. The Speaker of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, stated that the Prime Minister must submit his resignation to the President.

Bayrou, speaking before the vote, justified strict economic measures as a necessary step to reduce the budget deficit. “This was a test I desired with the President's consent,” - he addressed the deputies. However, during his speech, several opposition members disrupted the session with shouts of protest.

The Prime Minister's proposed 2026 budget plan included tax increases and a reduction of 44 billion euros in expenditures. Among the proposals were the reduction of pensions and social payments, the collection of a “solidarity payment” from the wealthy, as well as the abolition of two public holidays (Easter Monday and May 8 Victory Day).

François Bayrou held this position for approximately 9 months.
