Based on the agreement signed between Turkey and the Syrian interim government, Ankara is reported to have started a military training process in Syria.
Modern.az reports that the “Yeni Şafak” newspaper published information about this.
According to the information, in the initial phase, Syrian special forces will undergo training, and later the program will be extended to the entire army. Additionally, Turkey plans to open a military academy in Syria. This model has previously been applied in Somalia and Libya.
According to sources, Ankara does not limit its support to Syria solely to training. If the Kurdish armed groups YPG and the “Syrian Democratic Forces” they form do not comply with the March 10 agreements, Turkey is ready to support the Syrian government.
It is reported that the Syrian side may carry out the main operations, while Turkey will provide support with intelligence, unmanned aerial vehicles, and artillery.
