Egypt has put forward an initiative for Arab countries to create a joint military force similar to NATO.

Modern.az reports that this information was disseminated by Lebanon's “Al-Akhbar” newspaper, citing a source close to the government.

According to the information, although the proposal was first put forward approximately nine years ago, no results were achieved. In recent days, especially after Israel's airstrike on Doha, the initiative has become relevant again.

Within the framework of the plan, Egypt has stated its readiness to allocate approximately 20,000 troops. The population, military potential, and regional balance of the participating countries will be taken into account in the formation of the joint force. The accession of Morocco and Algeria, as well as the distribution of command positions among the countries, are being discussed.

According to the source, Cairo intends to retain the first command position for itself and assign the second position to Saudi Arabia or one of the Persian Gulf countries.
