The head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, has criticized the United Nations (UN).

Modern.az reports that Pope Leo stated there is a general opinion regarding the UN losing its multilateral capabilities.

The Pope said that the way to build bridges is through dialogue: “One of the things I have been able to achieve in the first two months of my activity has been to establish at least some kind of dialogue through the visits of world leaders. Theoretically, the UN should be the place where many of these issues are discussed. Unfortunately, there is currently a general opinion that the UN has lost at least its multilateral capabilities”.

The Pope, noting that we live in a time when polarization has become one of today's slogans, stated: “But this helps no one, or if it helps, it helps very few people, and everyone suffers”.

Pope Leo also touched upon the Russia-Ukraine war. “People somehow need to wake up and say: There is another way to do this; let's put an end to this conflict. I believe that various actors should exert enough pressure so that the parties to the conflict say, “Enough, let's find another way to resolve our differences”,” he emphasized.
