US President Donald Trump for the first time openly called Russia the "aggressor" in the war against Ukraine.
Modern.az reports that the publication "Politico" disseminated information about this.
“This week, 8,000 soldiers have died on both sides. More casualties are on the Russian side, but when you are the aggressor, you suffer more casualties,” - Trump said in a statement to journalists.
It should be noted that Trump had previously refrained from using such terms. In February of this year, the Trump administration, taking the same stance as Russia and North Korea, opposed a UN resolution supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity. The US also opposed the statement by the “Group of Seven” (G7) countries that recognized Russia as an "aggressor".
In April, Trump had made such a statement regarding the war: “It is not right to start a war against a country 20 times larger than you and then hope someone will send you missiles.”
