Italy is not ready for an attack that could come from Russia or other states.
Modern.az reports that Italy's Minister of Defense, Gvido Krozetto, stated this.
In an interview with “The Guardian” publication, the minister noted that insufficient funds have been allocated to the defense sector in the last 20 years, and it is difficult to fill the resulting gap in a short period.
“We are not ready for a Russian attack, nor for an attack from any other country. I have been saying this for a long time. Our task is to bring the country to a state where we can defend ourselves if any madman decides to attack us. This is not about Putin; it is about everyone in general,” Krozetto emphasized.
The minister also touched upon the war in Ukraine and called on the international community to take active measures in the coming weeks:
“If the current situation does not change, the situation can only worsen. This could lead to dramatic consequences for each of us. We must do everything we can to change the course.”
