The Israeli army launched further airstrikes against targets belonging to the Houthi movement in Yemen.
Modern.az reports that, according to the Israel Defense Forces, the targets were military infrastructure facilities located in the port city of Hodeidah and “used by Houthi rebels for transporting weapons brought from the Iranian regime.”
The Israeli army stated that the attack is a response to the Houthis launching unmanned aerial vehicles and “surface-to-surface” missiles at Israeli territory in recent days:
“The Israel Defense Forces will continue to take strong measures against repeated attacks and are determined to eliminate any threat to Israeli citizens, regardless of distance.”
Israel's Minister of Defense, Israel Katz, stated that the strikes aim to strengthen the naval and air blockade imposed against the Houthis:
“The Israeli Air Force struck Hodeidah port to prevent the Houthis' weapons supply. New strikes will be carried out in the event of retaliatory attacks.”
According to international maritime monitoring data, approximately ten vessels were in the Hodeidah port area at the time of the attack.
The Houthi movement's “Al Masirah” television channel announced that Israel had carried out 12 airstrikes on the port and surrounding areas.
