Lithuania's Prosecutor General's Office and the Police Criminal Bureau have neutralized a terror plot linked to Russian military intelligence.

Modern.az reports that, according to ERR agency, 15 individuals accused of preparing four terrorist acts in various European countries have been detained.

According to the investigation, among those detained are citizens of Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Ukraine. Within the framework of international cooperation, Lithuania's State Security Department arrested two suspects on Estonian territory.

The investigation determined that on July 19, 2024, a Lithuanian citizen, together with several individuals, used DHL and DPD international delivery services to send four packages containing explosive and incendiary devices from Vilnius to several European countries. Two packages were sent to Great Britain via DHL cargo planes, and the others were dispatched to Poland via DPD.

The Prosecutor's Office notes that the organization and coordination of the operation were carried out by individuals linked to Russian military intelligence structures. Law enforcement agencies also stated that some of the detainees participated in an unsuccessful terror attempt in May 2023, which resulted in the burning of the IKEA shopping center in Vilnius.
