In the "Good University Guide" ranking published by British publications “The Times” and “The Sunday Times”, Oxford and Cambridge universities have failed to enter the top three leaders for the first time since 1993.

Modern.az reports that the London School of Economics (LSE) leads the ranking for the second consecutive year.

It is followed by the University of St Andrews, considered Scotland's oldest university. Durham University, which advanced from fifth place last year, took the third spot. Oxford and Cambridge this time only shared fourth place.

According to experts' assessment, Durham University has surpassed many of its competitors in terms of the quality of teaching and research activities, student satisfaction, and graduate success indicators. The university only lost to Imperial College London in the graduate employment category.

Helen Davis, editor of “The Times” and “The Sunday Times” ranking, noted that Durham University has significantly improved the quality of teaching and the student environment.

It should be noted that Edward Peck, head of the UK's Office for Students, also stated in an interview with “The Times” that the possibility of regulating tuition fees based on the quality of teaching is being considered.
