“I am not talking about peace unilaterally; there are signed documents regarding peace”.
According to Modern.az, this was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in a statement to journalists in Strasbourg.
“It is not as if only I am talking about peace. Azerbaijan is also talking about peace. There is no disagreement in the statements. You say that the UN rostrum has become a platform for clarifying certain questions. The UN rostrum is precisely for this purpose, so that certain questions are not only clarified but also explained. The UN rostrum is intended for stating positions and bringing them somewhat closer. This is my approach and understanding. If we assume that everything is as stated in the question. What will happen then, what is the result? I have often emphasized this perception that exists in Armenia and is also familiar to me: I was once a proponent of those very approaches that exist in Armenia and on the basis of which my steps are criticized; I cannot say they are alien to me”, Pashinyan said.
He noted that there is an important point in the ideology of “Real Armenia”: “If truth has not been thought through and evaluated, it loses its significance. In our society, everything is presented like this: Azerbaijan said this, someone else said that, a third person said something else, but the most important question always remains overlooked: what do *we* say? We have long spoken about Armenia's subjectivity; Armenia is a subject in international relations, not an object. This is because we have never been interested in what we say, but always in what others say. However, what is important to us is what we say and how much we align our positions with international movements and rules”.
Pashinyan noted that in his address after August 8, he likened peace to a newborn child, stating that the child must grow and strengthen: “We have a good proverb: a child grows while getting sick. Peace is the same; it will grow while getting sick: it will catch a cold, get the flu, its temperature will rise, then fall”.
