Russian billionaire, Telegram founder Pavel Durov gave a four-hour interview to famous podcaster Lex Fridman.
Modern.az reports that the Telegram founder discussed a number of topics during the interview. He also discussed his decision to become a sperm donor, explaining why he included all his biological children in his will and why his heirs would only receive money after reaching adulthood.
To a question about the number of his children, Durov replied: "The truth is, I don't know how many biological children I have.”
The billionaire said that 15 years ago, a friend asked him to donate sperm so that he could have a child with his wife. Although it initially seemed strange, Durov later understood the seriousness of the problem and agreed to help. He later helped other families in the same way.
"I can't say I'm incredibly proud of it, but I believe it was the right decision," Durov said.
Speaking about his will, Durov emphasized that he makes no distinction between his "biological" children and those born through donation.
"If they can prove that we share DNA, then one day, after my death, they should be entitled to a share of the inheritance."
Following the announcement, the billionaire received many messages from people claiming to be his children, as well as ironic requests for adoption.
He also explained why the inheritance would only be given to his children upon reaching adulthood.
"Excessive wealth weakens motivation and willpower. It is especially detrimental for boys to pride themselves not on their own achievements, but on their fathers' wealth."
Durov has decided to divide his vast fortune among 100 or more heirs, and we are talking about millions.
In June, Durov drafted a will, announcing his decision to divide his inheritance among his six own children and nearly a hundred biological children. He officially confirmed for the first time that he had six children. Previously, five were known: two from his marriage to Daria Bondarenko and three from Irina Bolgar. There were also rumors about a sixth child from his relationship with model Diana Bako.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Durov's fortune is 15.1 billion dollars.
