At least 47 people have died in Nepal as a result of landslides and floods caused by heavy rains.

 

Modern.az reports that Aljazeera agency disseminated information on this matter.

 

According to the information, at least 47 people have lost their lives in Nepal, roads have been closed, and bridges have been destroyed as a result of landslides and flash floods caused by heavy rains.

 

Kalidas Dhaulboji, spokesperson for the Armed Police Force, stated on Sunday that 35 people died as a result of separate landslides in the Ilam district, located on the country's border with India.

 

According to him, since Friday, 9 people have gone missing in the floods, and 3 more have died due to lightning strikes in other regions of Nepal. Heavy rains have devastatingly affected the eastern and central regions of the country.

 

Shanti Mahat, spokesperson for Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, stated that search and rescue operations for the missing persons are ongoing.
