According to the information, 114 thousand of them have already been moved to safe areas.
It should be noted that initially the local meteorological department reported that the tropical cyclone passed 60 km northeast of Hainan. According to forecasts, “Matmo” will soon reach the coast near Xuwen city in the neighboring Guangdong province, then enter the Gulf of Tonkin and weaken. At the moment the typhoon makes landfall, wind speeds are expected to be 42–48 m/s.
