A few days ago, an official reception was held on the occasion of the new session of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. President, AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also attended the event.
At the event, attended by government members, political party leaders, art representatives, and other officials, Erdoğan sat alongside Ahmet Davutoğlu, Chairman of the Future Party, and Ali Babacan, Chairman of the DEVA Party.
Furthermore, Erdoğan and Davutoğlu had a cordial conversation for some time. These images, emerging after many years, were met with interest.
Following this, some claims emerged in the press. It is alleged that A. Davudoğlu and A. Babacan, former members of Turkey's ruling party AKP, will return to their previous party
In a statement to Modern.az, Şamil Ayrım, a deputy from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), stated that the return of Ahmet Davutoğlu and Ali Babacan to the party is not being discussed in the current situation:
"On the evening of the TBMM's opening day, opposition leaders gathered. Among them were party leaders who had separated from us, such as Ahmet Davutoğlu and Ali Babacan. Mr. Devlet Bahçeli and Tuncer Bakırhan, Chairman of the DEM Party, also participated in the meeting. Dialogue is very important in politics, and our president attaches great importance to it. Ahmet Davutoğlu and Ali Babacan served as ministers while they were in the Justice and Development Party. Ahmet Davudoğlu was Prime Minister, and Ali Babacan was Minister of Finance."
He noted that the AK Party's door is open to everyone who aligns with its principles and activities.
"However, the return of the aforementioned individuals to the AK Party is not on the agenda. Discussions on election matters will begin next year. Perhaps an early election could take place a few months before the scheduled time. In such a situation, the support of these leaders could be important. From this perspective, the meeting can be evaluated as a dialogue platform. It is important that they took such a photo with our President. But I repeat, discussions regarding their return to the party have not been held and are not being held. This does not mean that such an event will never happen. Turkey is a great state, our brotherhood is more important than anything. In recent months, serious steps have begun to be taken towards a 'Turkey without terror'. All political parties provide great support for this. The commission working in this direction completed its work during the summer months. Relevant work will also be carried out in the Plenary Session of the Assembly for certain regulations."
Ş. Ayrım emphasized that an environment of dialogue with political parties is important for Turkey's future:
"Unity and equality within Turkey, and an environment of dialogue with political parties, must always exist. The AK Party has been governing Turkey for 23 years under the leadership of our president. From this perspective, our president's strong leadership is very important, and it is normal for him to be in dialogue with all political parties. This should not be immediately interpreted otherwise. Incidentally, it is also important for our president to be seen with the DEM party. DEM was a party that opposed us, disliked our policies, and stood against them, but today we are in dialogue with them. Because we need this for Turkey's future."
