Argentina President Javier Milei has taken a unique step amidst political tensions and economic difficulties in the country.
Modern.az reports that he gave a concert as part of a music group called “Banda Presidencial”.
The president, appearing on stage in black leather attire, performed rock music.
After the concert, the presentation ceremony for his new book titled “The Genesis of Miracle: The Argentine Experience” was held.
The 573-page book mainly consists of the president's speeches over the past year, and with this publication, Milei is trying to restore his rating ahead of the elections to be held on October 26. He is currently experiencing the most challenging phase of his nearly two-year presidency.
In recent months, the president has faced a series of crises. After a defeat in the municipal elections in Buenos Aires last month, the value of the peso sharply declined, and Milei was forced to turn to Washington for financial assistance. The expected aid from the US has not yet been confirmed.
The purpose of the concert was to revive the “rock star” image Milei created during his 2023 election campaign. The president, wrapped in the Argentine flag, sang approximately 12 songs, condemned antisemitic attacks from the stage, and stated that he “would not allow the xenophobia that the left is trying to spread.”
Following this, he performed the Jewish folk song “Hava Nagila,” but the audience's reaction was subdued. Milei is not Jewish, but he has repeatedly expressed his sympathy for Judaism.
