US President Donald Trump announced that the long-running war in Gaza has ended.

Modern.az reports that Trump, speaking at a government meeting held at the White House, stated that a ceasefire agreement had been signed between Israel and Hamas, calling it a “historic turning point in the Middle East.”

“Last night, we took a step in the Middle East that was not possible for years. We ended the Gaza war,” – Trump declared.

According to him, within the framework of the agreement, the release of all hostages will be ensured, and this process will be completed on Monday or Tuesday.

He also noted that the Israeli army would withdraw from some parts of Gaza and that a mutual prisoner exchange would be carried out. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu intends to convene parliament on Thursday to approve the plan.

During his speech, Trump thanked the countries that supported the US mediation mission – Qatar, Indonesia, and other states. He emphasized that Vice President J.D. Vance and Middle East advisor Steve Witkoff also played a significant role in the negotiations.

“Gaza will be rebuilt. The wealth and regional opportunities there can transform this area in a short time. Just a little support will create a miracle in Gaza,” - Trump stated.

The US President also announced that Iran is ready to participate in this process: “Iran has already informed us that it wants to work on peace. We will cooperate with them.”

Donald Trump also stated that he plans to visit the Middle East and participate in the signing ceremony to be held in Egypt.

The first phase of the ceasefire envisages the phased withdrawal of the Israeli army and the release of all detainees. This agreement is considered the first step of the US President's 20-point “Gaza peace plan.”
