US First Lady Melania Trump announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin had responded to her letter.
Modern.az reports that she stated this during her speech at the White House on October 10.
According to Melania Trump, the letter concerned children taken from Ukraine to Russia. She said that Vladimir Putin responded to her letter in writing and stated that he was “ready for direct cooperation”:
“In response to my letter, President Putin both provided detailed information regarding the placement of children from Ukraine in Russia, and also expressed his desire to work directly with me on this topic.”
The First Lady emphasized that over the past three months, constant contact has been maintained and several meetings have been held between her representatives and the Russian side on this issue.
“Our representative, working directly with Putin's team, ensured the reunification of families between Ukraine and Russia. In the last 24 hours, eight children have been reunited with their families. Three of them had been separated from their families as a result of the fighting, while five others had been isolated from their relatives across the border. Among them was a small girl, who has already been reunited with her family in Russia,” – added Melania Trump.
The US First Lady stated that the Russian side “demonstrated its readiness to provide objective and detailed information regarding the current situation”.
