In Baku's Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the criminal Rashid Keyblvala, who committed numerous murders in India and had been on an international wanted list for a long time, has been apprehended.
Modern.az reports that, according to Indian media, Keyblvala was apprehended by employees of the State Migration Service upon entering Azerbaijan on an Istanbul–Baku flight and was subsequently handed over to law enforcement agencies.
Currently, Indian special services are preparing documents for his extradition.
According to information, Rashid Keyblvala is on India's list of “most wanted criminals”. His apprehension was made possible due to “inconsistencies in his documents”. Indian law enforcement representatives are now preparing to submit information regarding his criminal past and dossier to Azerbaijan through official channels.
According to investigative materials, the gang led by Keyblvala was involved in threatening businessmen, demanding “extortion”, and murdering members of rival groups.
He was first apprehended in 2018 while attempting to flee to Saudi Arabia, but was released shortly thereafter.
Subsequently, he attempted to "launder" criminally obtained money by establishing a sewing enterprise in Riyadh and expanding his activities in Thailand. In 2019, a criminal case was opened against him under the article “connection with kamikaze terrorists”, he was re-apprehended in 2020, but managed to escape the country with a fake passport in early 2022.
Keyblvala is accused of close ties with other notorious Indian criminals Hashim Baba and Lawrence Bishnoi. His name has been mentioned in investigations related to the murders of businessman Nadir Shah (September 2024), as well as Sunit Jain (December 2024) in recent years.
