In Russia's Krasnoyarsk Krai, special police forces (SOBR) conducted an operation at the villa of 65-year-old businessman and former deputy Razim Abbasov. The operation took place on October 10.
Modern.az reports that, according to Russian media, the door of the villa where Abbasov, the former head of the construction company “Monolit Holding,” resided, was broken down with a saw.
During the search, BMW and "Jaguar" brand cars, bundles of money in various currencies, expensive “Burberry” watches, and a book on tax evasion were discovered.
According to the investigation's version, Abbasov reduced taxes payable to the state by signing fictitious cooperation agreements with various organizations for years. In this way, he is accused of evading taxes amounting to approximately 250 million rubles (approximately 2.6 million manats).
Furthermore, it is reported that financial transfers amounting to 10 million rubles were also carried out through forged documents. At the moment of detention, one of the officers said to Abbasov:
“I inform you that you are suspected of preparing and using forged financial transactions amounting to 10 million rubles under Article 187, Paragraph 2 of the Russian Criminal Code.”
Razim Abbasov was born in Dagestan and has led large construction projects in Krasnoyarsk since the early 2000s. His company “Monolit Holding” has constructed a number of large facilities in the region, including perinatal and oncological centers, the “Planeta” shopping center, and the “Lazurnıy,” “İnnokentyevskiy,” “Preobrajenskiy” residential complexes.
In 2008, Abbasov was elected as a deputy to the Krasnoyarsk City Duma and served in this position for two convocations.
According to Yulia Arbuzova, a regional representative of the Russian Investigative Committee, Abbasov and the head of a commercial company that was his partner have been brought under investigation for tax evasion and preparing forged financial documents.
The court did not choose a pre-trial detention measure for Abbasov. He was released to house arrest and prohibited from contacting witnesses, persons involved in the investigation, and from leaving the region.
“Monolit Holding” company, however, refused to comment on the incident. It was only stated that “the company's operations continue in the previous regime.”
