Hamas has begun releasing Israeli hostages.
According to Modern.az, in the initial phase, seven Israeli hostages were handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The process of releasing Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons has also begun. According to officials responsible for the operation, all 1,966 prisoners planned for release have already been boarded onto buses.
According to the information, the hostages were handed over to Red Cross representatives in the Gaza Strip and will subsequently be delivered to Israeli authorities.
The International Committee of the Red Cross stated in its announcement that this operation is being carried out simultaneously in two directions: one is the handover of hostages to Israel, and the other is the return of Palestinian prisoners to Gaza and the West Bank.
The organization's statement notes that these operations are highly complex and require precise logistical and security planning to ensure the safety of all parties. The Red Cross also stated that it will facilitate the exchange of human remains.
According to the Red Cross, since October 2023, the organization has facilitated the release and transfer of a total of 148 hostages and 1,931 prisoners.
