OSCE Chairman to visit the South Caucasus

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Finland's Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen, will visit Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia on October 13–15.

Modern.az reports that the organization's press service disseminated information about this.

According to the information, Valtonen will hold high-level meetings with government representatives of all three countries within the framework of the visit. The main objective of the meetings is to exchange views on regional security, stability, and the ongoing peace process.

During the OSCE Chairperson's talks in Tbilisi, Georgia's internal and external challenges, as well as the organization's support for the Geneva International Discussions regarding the elimination of the consequences of the 2008 war, will be discussed.

One of the main topics of the visit will be the progress of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. It is reported that Valtonen will pay special attention to the strengthening of peace in the region, as well as to the issues of concluding the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group and its related structures.

This is Elina Valtonen's first visit to the South Caucasus as OSCE Chairperson.
