The US Armed Forces are considering the possibility of striking objects related to drug cartels in Venezuelan territory.
Modern.az reports that US President Donald Trump announced this.
“I don't want to say it with certainty, but we are definitely investigating the possibility of striking ground targets. Because, in fact, we have full control over the situation at sea,” Trump said in response to a journalist's question at a joint press conference with Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel.
"The New York Times" reports that the Trump administration has authorized the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to conduct covert operations in Venezuela. This decision is regarded as the next phase of the US pressure campaign against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
According to sources, the new powers granted to the CIA aim to strengthen the Trump administration's scenario of regime change in Venezuela. In parallel, the leadership of the US Armed Forces is also working on planning possible military strikes.
