International stability forces are planned to be established in the Gaza Strip.
According to Modern.az, the publication "Politico" wrote that the main candidate countries to join the forces are Azerbaijan, Indonesia, and Pakistan.
The publication disseminated this information citing an official from the US Department of Defense and a former high-ranking defense official.
It is noted that negotiations regarding the composition of this force are currently ongoing, and no country has yet made a formal commitment. A US official stated that these three countries have shown the most interest in participating in the process.
According to Donald Trump's “20-point plan” for peace in Gaza, the US, together with Arab and other partner countries, will form a temporary stability force. This force will train and support selected Palestinian police forces.
The US stated that American soldiers will not enter Gaza, but they will participate in coordination activities.
The stability force is considered a key part of the Trump administration's plan to stop the war between Hamas and Israel, and to gradually demilitarize and rebuild Gaza.
The US has already sent 200 military personnel to Israel. They will operate within the Central Command (CENTCOM) at a civil-military coordination center to be located in northern Gaza. The participation of military personnel from Egypt, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates is also envisioned at this center.
The Trump administration has not yet disclosed information regarding the establishment of technical groups at the level of the State Department and other agencies.
On October 8, Hamas agreed to a peace agreement and released 20 hostages. However, the Israeli side states that the group has not yet returned some of the bodies of those who died in captivity.
