US President Donald Trump announced that the US military is considering the possibility of striking land targets related to drug trafficking in Venezuela.
Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that Trump said the following regarding this:
“I don't want to say exactly, but we are definitely considering the possibility of striking land targets, because we essentially control the sea.”
“The New York Times” reports, citing US administration officials, that the US leader's administration has authorized the Central Intelligence Agency to conduct covert operations in Venezuela as part of an intensified campaign against President Nicolas Maduro.
This authorization is the latest step in a pressure campaign against Venezuela aimed at ousting Nicolas Maduro. According to the newspaper, this coincides with a time when the US military is preparing various scenarios for the Trump administration, including possible strikes within Venezuela.
