According to US President Donald Trump's peace plan, the international stabilization forces planned to be deployed in the Gaza Strip will consist of military personnel from Azerbaijan, Indonesia, and Pakistan.
Modern.az , referring to Israeli media, reports that representatives of the Israeli Ministry of Defense stated this at a closed meeting held in the Knesset.
According to the information, the mandate of these forces includes ensuring internal security in Gaza and the creation of a buffer zone to prevent the supply of weapons between Israel and Hamas.
Previously published reports stated that this mission would consist only of military personnel from Azerbaijan and Indonesia. However, after recent discussions, it is likely that a contingent from Pakistan will also be involved.
The publication “The Times of Israel” writes that Indonesia has already officially declared its readiness to send its military personnel, while Azerbaijan has expressed its principal agreement, but no official decision has been announced yet. Pakistan is also indicated as an interested party in participating in this mission.
According to sources, the total number of the international peacekeeping contingent will be approximately 10,000 people.
Currently, negotiations are ongoing regarding the mission's financing, scope of authority, and legal basis. Indonesia has stated that it will send its troops only if a relevant resolution of the UN Security Council is adopted.
