Iran can create a nuclear weapon within two weeks, but the fatwa of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei prohibits it.
Modern.az reports, citing Iran's "Khabar Fouri" publication, that this was stated by Ayatollah's advisor Javad Larijani.
According to him, the development of defense and technological capabilities remains Iran's strategic priority.
"If a war starts, it will not be with barbarism; both sides have boundaries. The fatwa of His Holiness (regarding the prohibition of nuclear weapon creation) has many foundations and a long history in Shia law. The country can acquire an atomic bomb in less than two weeks, but we are loyal to our religion," he added.
