On the night of November 6, Ukrainian drones attacked an "energy infrastructure facility" in Volgorechensk, Kostroma region of Russia.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by regional governor Sergey Sitnikov in a press statement.
The target of the Ukrainian drones was the Kostroma State District Power Plant (GRES), the third largest thermal power plant in Russia by capacity. It produces approximately 1.5% of the country's total electricity. The plant has eight power units with capacities of 330 and 300 MW, and a unique "million-capacity" power unit with a capacity of 1200 MW.
Residents of Volgorechensk reported that the plant was engulfed in a fiery glow after the strikes.

Volgograd region governor Andrey Bocharov stated that the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil refinery is located in the area. The oil refinery supplies fuel to the Southern Federal District and can process up to 15.7 million tons of oil per year. During the attack on the oil refinery, one of the drones hit a 24-story residential building on Garya Khokholova Street. One civilian was killed.
