Water supply to the population has been restricted in the capital Tehran, Iran, due to water scarcity.

According to Modern.az, officials state that low rainfall has deepened the crisis, and the situation has reached a critical level.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated yesterday that if rainfall does not begin by the third decade of November, the city will need to be evacuated. According to him, the crisis in Tehran's water supply is linked to long-term drought and management problems.

Behzad Parsa, CEO of Tehran Water Supply Company, warned that reserves in the Amir Kabir dam will last for less than two weeks. This dam is one of the five main sources supplying drinking water to the capital.

According to agency reports, 30% of Tehran's water supply is provided by urban groundwater, and 70% by the five surrounding dams. However, water levels in these dams have sharply decreased.
