As of today, police in Japan are allowed to use weapons to shoot bears.
Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that such a step has been taken in response to the recent increase in bear attacks in the country.
According to the Japanese Ministry of Environment, the number of people killed as a result of bear attacks since April has reached a record high of 13.
It should be noted that until now, the police have taken measures such as the evacuation of local residents, ensuring the safety of the surroundings, and establishing patrol services on school routes where bears have been sighted.
