For years, Armenia has remained under the influence of a specific country regarding the Karabakh issue.
Modern.az reports that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this while speaking at a government meeting.
According to Pashinyan, the socio-psychological state and thought system of the Armenian army were formed under foreign influences in 2018–2022:
“Armenia was in the pocket of a specific country regarding the Karabakh issue. Until 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and even 2022, the socio-psychological state and mindset of our army were under the influence of an external factor. There was no center of sovereign will in the army,” he stated.
Pashinyan also said that the main reason for the increase in the country's foreign debt was arms purchases:
“They criticize us, asking why the debt has reached 8 billion dollars, and what we have done with this money? I wasn't going to say it, but now I am – we bought weapons. With credit funds? Yes, with credit, because many weapons were needed and had to be acquired immediately.”
The Prime Minister stated that Armenia still “does not know what peace is,” and presented the absence of fatalities in the last one year and eight months as “the beginning of peace.”
