Turkey's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that contact was lost with one of two firefighting aircraft belonging to the Forest Directorate, which were sent to Croatia for technical inspection.
According to Modern.az, the Ministry stated that a joint search and rescue operation has begun with Croatian authorities to find the aircraft.
According to the information, two AT-802 type firefighting aircraft departed from Çanakkale on November 12 for a planned technical inspection in Zagreb. Due to deteriorating weather conditions, the aircraft spent the night at Reyka (Rijeka) Airport.
On November 13, in the afternoon, although both aircraft took off again towards Zagreb, a decision was made to return due to severe weather conditions. One of them landed safely at Reyka Airport.
However, with the other aircraft, radio contact was completely lost at 18:25 Turkish time. Intensive searches are continuing in the region to re-establish contact with both the aircraft and the pilot.
